ISIC and ITIC card in public transport

Starting from 1 January 2013, you can use SEB ISIC Tudeng (Student), SEB ITIC Õpetaja (Teacher) and SEB ISIC Õpilane (Scholar) bank card to prove your right to travel and receive benefits in the united ticket system of the public transportation system.

NB! The public transport function does not extend to the SEB ISIC Õpilane Electron bank card (it bears the VISA logo).

In order to use it as a ticket, the card holder must have an Estonian personal identification code.*

To use your ISIC or ITIC card in the public transportation system, take the following steps:

1. Activate the card. Every bank card must be activated before use. If you receive your card from a branch, the client executive will activate the card for you at the bank. If the card is sent to your home by post, you can activate the card in the Internet Bank or an ATM. In public transport, you can use the card the day after activation. If your card has already been activated, go to the next step.

2. Register the activated card. To do so, open on the United Tickets webpage menu item “Ühiskaart → ISIC cards” and enter your identity code. All active cards found in the MinuKool database linked with the entered personal identification code will be registered in the ticket system at once. You do not need to register a renewal or substitute card again. A card registered in the ticket system may be used until the end of the term of validity of the card, except in case the status of the user being a student or teacher ends or the user closes their bank card before the end of the term of validity printed on the card. In such a case the card is deactivated and a notice thereof will be automatically sent to the ticket system. You will find the list of your valid and activated cards upon logging in to the ticket system.

3. Buy a ticket. The cards linked with the ticket system function similarly to the green Ühiskaart. Tickets can be bought onto the card by personal identification code at the website www.pilet.ee , over a mobile phone or from a sales outlet (a list of sales outlets can be found here). You can purchase personalised public transport tickets with various terms of validity onto the card and verify your right to travel benefits (for example, free right to travel).

* If a foreign student has been issued an Estonian identity code after receiving the card (the card contains a foreign identity code or date of birth), a new card with an Estonian identity code should be ordered to be used as a transportation card.
