A vehicle purchased with leasing must have a valid insurance cover: the person must conclude an optional motor vehicle insurance contract, which is of assistance in case of most common damages of a vehicle irrespective of who the guilty party is or where the accident happened, and a motor third party liability insurance contract, which compensates the damage caused to other person with the traffic accident.
There are specific requirements, established for insurance contracts of leased property:
PZU optional motor vehicle insurance, mediated by SEB, corresponds to the requirements established to insuring the leased property and provides the following benefits:
Additional requirements apply to those insurance contracts of leased property, which are not concluded through PZU:
Motor third party liability insurance
All vehicles registered with the traffic register of the Road Administration must be covered with motor third party liability insurance (TPL). In case of an insured event covered by a motor third party liability insurance, proprietary and personal damage, caused by the owner of a vehicle in a traffic accident to other persons shall be indemnified. The lessee as a person subject to insurance obligation is responsible for the fulfilment of the TPL insurance obligation. Motor third party liability insurance provides insurance cover in the European Economic Area and other countries who have joined the green card system.
Motor third party liability insurance can be concluded with a term up to 1 year and either as an automatically renewable contract or as an automatically non-renewable contract:
When taking out PZU’s optional motor vehicle insurance, a 20% discount is applied to the premiums of the annual motor third party liability insurance.
I have valid motor third party liability insurance. Why should I need optional motor vehicle insurance?
To fully insure the vehicle, you need both, the motor third party liability (TPL) as well as the optional motor vehicle insurance. TPL insurance is a mandatory insurance, the existence of which, according to law, must be ensured by the responsible user (or the owner, if there is no responsible user) of the vehicle. With TPL insurance you insure your liability towards other road users. This means that whenever you are guilty of causing a traffic accident, only the damage caused to the injured party is indemnified.
However, the damage incurred to your car is not indemnified under the TPL insurance. This damage is indemnified by optional motor vehicle insurance. Optional motor vehicle insurance helps to prevent extensive financial loss in case of an accident, theft, fire, vandalism and technical failure.
