Did you know that SEB ISIC and ITIC cards are made of corn and contain 82% less plastic compared to a regular bank card?

The cards are made of corn mass, into which chip and antenna are pressed. The card is then covered on both sides with a thin layer of plastic, which together with the chip and the antenna make up 18 per cent of the card. Corn plastic, which is biodegradable at 58 °C and 90 per cent air humidity, needs protection in normal conditions – hence the plastic layer.

The greenness of the card lies mainly in the production process:   where the raw material for the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic polymer is petroleum products, the raw material for PLA (polylactic acid) corn plastic is corn starch. The production process of these bioplastic cards produces less CO2 emissions.

The idea for the card was developed by SEB’s young colleagues within the framework of the Youth LAB internship programme. By introducing ISIC and ITIC bank cards made of corn, we at SEB will save about 230 kg of plastic per year.

Yes. You can order a card for yourself in the Internet Bank on the page "Cards" → "New card". We send the cards both by post and to the Omniva parcel machine. We can send the card to your residential address, office address or elsewhere in Estonia or abroad, wherever you usually stay or prefer to receive the card at. Sending by ordinary mail in Estonia is free. There is a fee for sending the card to the parcel machine. For minors and owners of the Youth Plan, sending to parcel machines is free of charge. For owners of the Youth Plan, sending cards both via regular mail and to parcel machines is free of charge.

You can view your card’s PIN code in the Internet Bank section "Cards" → "My cards" → "View PIN code".

Yes. You can change the PIN code by using an ATM of SEB.

First you need to activate the card. You can do it either in mobile app or the Internet Bank:

  • in the mobile app (“Cards” → “Card”)
  • in the Internet Bank (“Cards” → “My cards” → “Activate the card”)

A maximum daily limit for cash withdrawal at an ATM by a debit card is 3500 euros.

You can change cash withdrawal limits:

  • in the mobile app (“Cards” → “Settings and limits”)
  • in the Internet Bank (“Cards” → “My cards” → “Change data”)

Currently, it is only possible to buy a 1-hour ticket from the validator with a bank card, you cannot buy a discount ticket, nor can you prove the right to ride for free with a bank card. As the vast majority of ISIC card holders have either the right to discount tickets or even the right to ride for free, in order to avoid mistaken full ticket purchases, it is not possible to use ISIC bank cards issued in Estonia to purchase tickets from validators. However, these cards can still be used in the old way – to prove the right to ride, to deposit money onto the card used in public transport and to buy tickets with that money.
