Starting from today, parents can open a bank account for their children via a video call

SEB continues to develop the services available via a video call – the newest addition is the possibility to open an account for your child. Currently, only parents who are clients of SEB can use the option, similarly to other services available via a video call.

To open an account for your child via a video call, all you need to do is notify SEB thereof on our website. We recommend having the child’s documents available during the video call; the presence of the child is not required. Children aged 7 or above should have an ID-card or a passport to open an account. The abovementioned documents are also recommended for younger children, but a birth certificate is acceptable if they do not have them.

Triin Raudsepp, head of the segment at SEB: ‘Today, children get their first current account and bankcard in primary school. For those who have grown up in a technologically advanced world as well as for their parents in an active age, video calls are a natural channel for using everyday services. By expanding the services available via remote channels, we guide our clients towards using modern methods more actively to keep in contact with their bank.’

As their next large-scale development, SEB plans to offer the services available via video calls to non-clients. Currently, video calls can be used to open an account for a legal person and hold a comprehensive private client consultation. In a year, several thousand clients of the bank will have used the new service format.
