Families that have taken out a home loan are more optimistic about the future

More than 70% of the respondents who participated in SEB’s home loan survey said that their economic situation had not worsened during the past five years. Likewise, better education ensures better coping in times of economic decline.

Triin Messimas, Development Manager of Private Loans at SEB: “The economic situation remained the same or even improved for 77% of the respondents with a higher education compared to just 62% of the respondents with a basic education. The economic situation of women deteriorated slightly more during the economic crisis in comparison with that of men.

Roughly 90% of the respondents believe that their economic situation will remain the same or improve in the next two years. Forty-five per cent of the men believe that their economic situation will improve or improve substantially in the next two years. Thirty-four per cent of the women believe the same. Likewise, Estonian-speaking clients have more faith in the future as 41% of them believe that the economic situation will improve. Of the Russian-speaking clients, 32% believe in the improvement of the economic situation.”

SEB conducted the survey on home loans with a focus on loan-related issues in spring 2012. The survey covered 2118 clients who have taken out a home loan.
