The winners amongst the Estonian National Opera’s resident opera soloists will be determined by spectator voting, and either favourite of the audience will be awarded 1,300 euros in prize money. Theatre-goers will be able to cast a vote for their favourite when visiting the Estonian National Opera in February or March. This year’s awardees will be announced at the performance of Manon Lescaut on March 16.
All those casting their votes will enter the Estonian National Opera’s a prize draw for ten 20-euro give-away tickets on March 18.
“Collaboration between SEB and the Estonian National Opera dates to 2003, when we were the Gold Sponsor of the Opera’s hundredth season. The People’s Choice Award is a new aspect to our collaboration, whereby, with theatre-goers’ help, we acknowledge soloists with more than just a round of applause inside the hall,” said Riho Unt, Chairman of the Board at SEB.
According to Aivar Mäe, General Manager of the Estonian National Opera, it is splendid that SEB should be continuing the tradition. “An annual award to audience’s favourite is important and inspirational to our opera soloists and a most appropriate acknowledgment on the occasion of the Theatre Day.”
